Technology.
Technology provides a unique opportunity for our people in the new tech economy.
In the midst of a pandemic, this year has cast a light on both the inequities and opportunities that technology presents. As New York continues to see tremendous growth in the tech sector, communities of color must approach the coming tech economy with both the skeptical awareness of the historical tendency of industries to abuse black people and the optimism of a unique opportunity to create more wealth within our community.
With a new administration here in NY that is much more tech-friendly than the previous, this committee has even more work to do to hold the growing tech sector accountable and ensure that communities of color take advantage of the incredible opportunities that tech can provide.
Broadband is Essential.
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) gives your household a $30 discount on internet service every month. You will need to sign up for a plan from a participating internet provider.
ACP Provides:
$30 discount on internet service
up to $100 off for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (you will need to pay a copay between $10 and $50).
When enrolling for internet service through the ACP with an internet provider:
The provider might check your credit. However, they cannot use the result of the credit check to prevent you from enrolling in the ACP.
A provider cannot decline to enroll you just because you owe money to another internet provider.
