The NAACP thanks Executive Director Chris Alexander

“The NAACP thanks Executive Director Chris Alexander for his effort in creating an equitable cannabis market for New York. This was no small task and, despite the limited resources provided to the agency from the start, we’ve seen the remarkable accomplishments of the Office under his leadership since the passing of the MRTA 3 years ago. New York has more than doubled the national number of black-owned dispensaries, with nearly 40% of the 100+ dispensaries opened majority minority-owned, and over 95% of the state’s retail cannabis market small businesses. The NAACP New York State Conference will be keeping a close eye on what’s to come from the agency to ensure the intent of the laws with respect to communities of color and the people most affected will remain the priority in the work done by OCM.”
