NAACP NYCHA Branch and its Youth Council Encourage Public Housing Residents to Vote in the
2024 General Election
New York, NY — The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) branch of the NAACP, led by Ms.
Lynn Spivey and its Youth Council by Aubrina Bryan, is proud to announce the release of a new Public
Service Announcement (PSA) designed to encourage public housing residents across the country to vote
in the upcoming 2024 General Election. With over 450,000 residents in NYCHA housing alone, the PSA
emphasizes the power of voting and urges all public housing communities to exercise their right to vote
on November 5, 2024.
This nonpartisan effort highlights the importance of civic engagement, reminding voters that the choices
made in this election will shape the future of their communities. It encourages all eligible voters,
regardless of political party, to make their voices heard.
Ms. Lynn Spivey, President of the NAACP NYCHA Branch, stated: "Voting is a fundamental right, and
it’s crucial for every resident in public housing to know that their vote matters. Our goal is to empower
public housing communities to fully participate in the democratic process and make informed decisions
about the future of our nation."
The Youth Council, led by Aubrina Bryan, has also played a pivotal role in the creation of this PSA.
Aubrina, who just turned 18 and will be voting for the first time, expressed her excitement:
"I’m looking forward to casting my vote for the first time. It’s empowering to know that my vote can
contribute to making real changes. I encourage all young people, especially those in public housing, to
step up and make their voices heard in this election."
The PSA will be broadcast across radio stations and media outlets nationwide, ensuring the message
reaches as many public housing residents as possible. It serves as a reminder that every vote counts and
that public housing residents can have a significant impact in shaping the nation's policies.
The NAACP NYCHA Branch and its Youth Council urge all public housing residents to stay informed
about voting procedures, deadlines, and the issues on the ballot. By voting, individuals can help shape
policies related to public housing, healthcare, education, and much more.
