Black History Month 2025: If You Know, You Know

Black history is not just about the past—it is being written every day.

As we enter Black History Month in 2025, our community faces uncertainty. Across the country, we continue to confront challenges to our rights, our safety, and our dignity. Policies are being debated that threaten hard-fought progress. Inequities persist and some old ones have been renewed in education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and criminal justice. We know that the fight for justice is far from over.

But if you know, you know—we are not new to this struggle, and we are not backing down.

History is not just something we reflect on—it’s something we create. Every day, across New York, there are leaders, activists, educators, business owners, and organizers working to uplift our people and strengthen our communities. They are fighting for equity, creating opportunities, mentoring youth, pushing for policies that protect our freedoms, and ensuring that Black voices are heard. Their work is as important now as any time in history.

This Black History Month, the NAACP New York State Conference is proud to launch our If You Know, You Know campaign—shining a light on the individuals who are making history right now.

Throughout February, we will highlight those who are:
💡 Advocating for justice in the face of adversity
📚 Educating and empowering the next generation
💼 Building businesses and creating wealth in our communities
🤝 Organizing for systemic change and greater opportunities

If you know, you know—Black excellence is everywhere.

Join us as we celebrate those writing history today. Engage with their stories, amplify their work, and support their efforts. Because honoring Black history means honoring Black futures.
